The main ministries in charge of migration affairs:
- Ministry of the Interior: is the main body responsible for migration issues, together with its subordinate authorities. It is in charge of immigration (entry, stay); reception and asylum application procedures; border management and irregular migration; reception and support of immigrant populations.
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs: is responsible for defining and implementing cooperation and development aid policies. It promotes the link between migration and development by recognizing the beneficial effects of regular migration on development, both in countries of origin and host countries, including through the enhancement of diaspora. It is responsible, jointly with the Ministry of the Interior, for visa policy.
