- National policies and legislation:

- Ratified international treaties:
- 1960/1968: ratification of the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees and its 1967 Protocol.
- 2011: ratification of the 2000 Protocols on Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants.
The main ministries in charge of migration affairs:
- Ministry for Migration Policy: Together with its subordinate authorities it is the main body dealing with migration affairs, including immigration (residence permits); the reception of asylum seekers and the asylum procedure; social integration.
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs: representation of Greece at international and EU levels; visa policy and consular affairs; diaspora relations.
- Ministry of Public Order and Citizen’s Protection: border management and irregular migration.
